3.2 SOCIAL SERVICES

        A. Education

The main objective of the city government is to give quality, productive and globally competitive education to all students through the development of moral values, promotion of health and sports, revival of cultures and construction of modern facilities. The City Government has Scholarship program designed to provide assistance to indigent and deserving College students

        B. Enrollment

b.1.) In thirty-three (33) public elementary schools and six (9) private elementary school, enrollment soared to a high of 15,794 pupils.

b.2.) In secondary education level, there are ten (12) secondary schools, eight (8) are public national high schools and two (4) private secondary schools with a total enrollment of 9,316 pupils.

b.3.) In collegiate level, there are 294 students at Divina Pastora College and 825 students at Nueva Ecija University of Science & Technology, enrolled in different courses.

b.4.) In five (5) computer schools, the total number of students enrolled at present is 3,784 students.

b.5.) In one (1) vocational school, the total number of students enrolled at present is 291 students.

The average classroom to student ratio in public elementary level is 1:33 and in public secondary education level is 1: 52.

        3.3 TRADE & INDUSTRY

        A. Establishment

The City has a total of sixteen (16) banks, twelve (12) commercial banks, two (1) government bank and one (3) rural/community/cooperative banks. Other business establishment that rendered services to the people is as follows; Super Market, Department Store, Gasoline stations, Financing & Lending institution, Drug Store, Rice mill, sari-sari store, Restaurant and Fast food chain. For small and medium enterprises, slipper making ranks highest, followed by sash factories, pillow case making, CHB making and bamboo crafting.

        B. Health and Nutrition

There are twenty six (26) health facilities in the City. These are Good Samaritan Hospital, Gapan District Hospital, four (4) main RHU and twenty (20) BHU. These health stations are responsible for activities like treatment, consultations, dispensations of drugs, medicine and sanitary campaign and operation timbang project.
